The most important factor in treating tooth decay in children is to prevent decay before it starts. While good homecare is critical for helping children prevent cavities, routine visits to Dr. Ezekowitz and Dr. Sulyanto are also key.
According to the American Dental Association (ADA) children should have a dental exam and professional cleaning every 6 months, and at Newburyport Pediatric Dentistry we follow these recommendations.
We understand the concern about taking x-rays on children, and we want to assure you that we only take x-rays when absolutely necessary. Children who have more extensive cavities will often require more films than children with less decay. Note, however, that we use the latest digital x-ray technology available in order to minimize the already low dose needed for dental films. If you have more questions please don’t hesitate to ask us; you can also read our article dedicated to questions about dental x-rays in children.
